Olivia Goodreau, Lyme Warrior

Description

This activity is based on the personal experience of Olivia Goodreau, who contracted Lyme Disease when she was 7 years old. She founded the LivLyme Foundation when she was 12 years old, and continues to suffer from the effects of the disease today. She is currently still in high school (16 years old), and is recognized as a widely respected advocate and national spokeswoman for Lyme disease prevention and treatment, especially as it relates to the importance of early testing.

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for clinical and scientific laboratory professionals who have an interest in Lyme Disease. It is also of educational benefit for Lyme Disease patients.

Learning Objectives

1. Describe the impact of Lyme Disease from a patient's perspective.
2. Discuss the purpose of the Tick Tracker app, and its clinical usefulness for identifying tick types and geographic localities.
3. Explain the clinical importance of early testing, identification, diagnosis and treatment of Lyme Disease.
